Amarakeerthi Athukorala (23 December 1964-9 May 2022) was a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna politician who served in the Senate of Sri Lanka from 2020 to 9 May 2022.
Biography[]
Amarakeerthi Athukorala was born in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka in 1964, and he was elected to the Seante for the Polonnaruwa Electoral District in 2020 as a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
During the 2022 Sri Lankan protests, Athukorala opened fire on protesters who were blocking his vehicle in Nittambuwa, killing one man and wounding another. He then escaped before shooting himself.
