Amanra

Amanra (born c. 1272 BC) is a minor figure in Egyptian mythology and Greek mythology. She is said to have been the daughter of a powerful Nubian tribal leader, and she became a mercenary captain of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. Amanra fought against the god Set and his follower Kemsyt, and she assisted the Greek heroes Arkantos, Ajax, and Chiron in reviving Osiris.

History[]

Amanra was raised by her father, a powerful man who led his tribe in battles to support the Egyptian people. She grew up with her father's fierce skill, and began to join the battles in which her tribe fought. In time, Amanra became a legendary mercenary and a hero with the Egyptian people and servant of Isis and Osiris. Amanra's commander was a man of little competence and great girth named Fierce Mnevis. Mnevis rose in power largely through Amanra's skill in battle and her ability to speak the many Egyptian languages.

Amanra is featured in the Fall of the Trident story of Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology, where she is a servant of Osiris, a god who was hacked to death and scattered across Egypt by Set, his nemesis. She encounters Greek strangers Arkantos, Ajax, and Chiron, and she enlists their help in recapturing the pieces of Osiris to stop their common enemy, Gargarensis. Amanra has a fierce hatred of the Egyptian pirate Kemsyt, and Kemsyt eludes her grasp several times. One time, Amanra invokes the powers of Isis to help escape the city of Abydos while her friends are captured, and she later helps them escape. Individually, they collect the three Osiris pieces and gather them at Abydos after killing Gargarensis' ally Kamos, and they succeed in reviving Osiris.
