Alvah Crocker

Alvah Crocker (14 October 1801 – 26 December 1874) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-MA 9) from 2 January 1872 to 3 March 1873 (succeeding William B. Washburn and preceding George F. Hoar) and from MA-10 from 4 March 1873 to 26 December 1874 (succeeding Henry L. Dawes and preceding Charles A. Stevens).

Biography[]

Alvah Crocker was born in Leominster, Massachusetts in 1801, and he worked at a paper mill in Franklin, New Hampshire before founding his own paper mill at Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He served in the State House from 1835 to 1836 and from 1842 to 1843, and he oversaw the construction of several railroads. He later served in the State Senate from 1862 to 1864 and in the US House of Representatives from 1872 until his death in 1874.
