Alponos was a village and small Ancient Greek polis in Locris. Alponos was the first village founded in the region, and it served as a naval base for the Greek city-states during the Greco-Persian Wars. In 426 BC, Alponos was abandoned after an earthquake and tidal wave destroyed it.
