The Popes are a white Chicago, Illinois street gang that formed on the North Side during the 1950s. The gang originated as a gang of Greek greasers, and the gang began to associate with the Simon City Royals as a way to protect itself from the Latin Kings. The Popes later grew to include people of Polish, Irish, Hispanic, African-American, and Asian descent. The gang allied itself with the Folk Nation, the TAP Boyz, and the Simon City Royals, while it was enemies with the People Nation, Chicago Gaylords, Latin Kings, and Black P. Stones.
