Alloway Township is a township in Salem County, New Jersey. It was named for the Native American chief Allowas, and it received a royal charter on 17 June 1767 and was incorporated as Upper Alloways Creek. It was then incorporated by the state legislature on 21 February 1798, and Quinton Township split off in 1873. In 2019, Alloway Township had a population of 3,359 people, 91.49% were white, 5.08% were African-American, 1.96% were Hispanic, .89% were Asian, and .43% were Native American. During the 2016 presidential election, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump defeated the Democrat Hillary Clinton with 63% of the vote to her 30%.
