The Alliance of National, Democratic, and Peace Forces was a South Vietnamese political party which existed from 1968 to 1976. It was founded as an urban front for the Viet Cong, and it called for an independent, non-aligned South Vietnam, stating that national reunification could not be achieved overnight. Its members (mostly composed of businessmen, the middle class, doctors, and other anti-government professionals) wanted a new South Vietnamese government but opposed the Workers' Party of Vietnam and North Vietnam's influence on the southern communist movement. In June 1969, it merged with the National Liberation Front to form the Provisional Revolutionary Government, hoping to form a communist shadow government with international recognition.
