The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) is a liberal political party in the European Parliament, founded in 1976. The party's member parties included the Free Democratic Party of Germany from Germany, Venstre from Denmark, the Union of Democrats and Independents from France, Fianna Fail from Ireland, the Center Party of Sweden from Sweden, and the UK Liberal Democrats from the United Kingdom. In 2017, it held 58/751 European Parliament seats, 7/28 European Council seats, and 641/5,297 European Lower House seats.
