The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) is a far-right nationalist political party in Romania that was founded in 2019 by George Simion with the objective of reunifying Romania and Moldova. The party aims for the unification of all Romanians from Romania and Romanian-populated neighboring zones, including Moldova and Ukrainian-held Bukovina. The party also supported NATO membership, aimed for energy independence, and claimed to be a center-right Christian democratic party. However, factions within the AUR supported anti-vaccination ideas, neo-fascism, anti-Hungarian sentiment, pro-Russian sentiment, and anti-Semitism. The party also sought to position Romania as a leader in central and eastern Europe within the European Union, whilst also being eurosceptic and opposing regime change in Syria and Romanian military support for Ukraine against Russia amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
