The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) is a conservative political party in The Gambia, founded in 1996 by Yahya Jammeh. The Jola ethnic group made up the majority of APRC's membership, and the party controlled Gambian politics for two decades. In 2016, the party held 43/48 National Assembly seats and 4/5 Pan-African Parliament seats, and the APRC lost the 2016 presidential election to Adama Barrow and a coalition of independent opposition parties. In January 2017, several West African countries invaded the Gambia after Jammeh refused to acknowledge Barrow's election, and the APRC engaged in skirmishes with the West African peacekeepers during the constitutional crisis.
