Alliance 90/The Greens, also known simply as The Greens, is a green political party in Germany. The Greens was founded in 1979, while the alliance was formed in 1990 after the small Alliance 90 party merged with the Greens to form a major green party. The party sought to achieve ecological, economic, and social sustainability, and its views aligned with those of the center-left; it promoted alternative energy and energy conservation, supported increased education spending, pressed for a higher minimum wage, pushed for the decriminalization of marijuana, and fought for women's and gay rights. The party, along with Die Linke, sat in opposition to the CDU/CSU alliance and the Social Democratic Party of Germany's coalition.
Since 2016 it is the largest party in the Landtag of Baden-Wurttemberg.
