
Alistair Burt (born 25 May 1955) was the Conservative Party MP for Bury North from 9 June 1983 to 1 May 1997 (preceding David Chaylor) and for North East Bedfordshire from 7 June 2001 to 6 November 2019 (succeeding Nicholas Lyell and preceding Richard Fuller.
Biography[]
Alistair Burt was born in Bury, Lancashire, England in 1955, and he worked as a solicitor before serving on the Haringey Borough Council from 1982 to 1984, as the Conservative Party MP for Bury North from 1983 to 1997, and as the MP for North East Bedfordshire from 2001. He served as Minister of State for Social Security from 1995 to 1997, Minister of State for Care and Support from 2015 to 2016, and Minister of State for International Development from 2017 to 2019. He stood down in 2019.
