Alison McGovern (born 30 December 1980) was the Labour MP for Wirral South from 6 May 2010 to 30 May 2024 (succeeding Ben Chapman) and for Birkenhead from 4 July 2024 (succeeding Mick Whitley).
Biography[]
Alison McGovern was born in Clatterbridge, Merseyside, England in 1980, and she worked as a researcher at the House of Commons before being elected to the London Borough of Southwark Council as a Labour councillor for Brunswick Park in 2006. She was elected to Parliament in 2010 as MP for Wirral South, and she was a member of her party's New Labour wing.
