Alireza Mahjoub

Alireza Mahjoub (14 May 1958-) was a member of the Parliament of Iran from 1996 to 2000, from 2001 to 2004, and from 2005, representing the Worker House party.

Biography[]

Alireza Mahjoub was born in Morad Tappeh, Iran on 14 May 1958, and he became a prominent trade unionist and workers' rights activist. Mahjoub was active at the time of the Iranian Revolution, and he became one of the early members of the Islamic Republican Party in 1979, remaining in the party until its 1987 dissolution. Mahjoub then became the General Secretary of the left-wing Worker House party, having founded the worker wing during the 1980s. In 1996, he was elected to Parliament for the first time, and he remained in parliament for over twenty years, although his constituency frequently changed.
