Ali Naili (1764-late May 1799) was an Ottoman general during the French Revolutionary Wars.
Biography[]
Ali Naili was born in Damascus Eyalet, Ottoman Empire in 1764 to a Sunni Muslim Arab family, and he became a general of the Ottoman military. Naili led an Ottoman army in Syria during the French Revolutionary Wars, and he engaged the French army of Louis Desaix at the Battle of al-Rawdah in 1799. Naili's army set up elaborate defensive positions, but they were driven from the field, and Naili was killed in action.
