Ali Mohammed Ghedi

Ali Mohammed Ghedi (2 October 1952-) was Prime Minister of Somalia from 1 November 2004 to 29 October 2007, succeeding Muhammad Abdi Yusuf and preceding Salim Aliyow Ibrow.

Biography[]

Ali Mohammed Ghedi was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1952, and he was educated in Italy and became a teacher. He played a role in reconciliation efforts during the Somali Civil War and served as Prime Minister of the Transitional Federal Government from 2004 to 2007, fleeing to Nairobi, Kenya after a 2005 assassination attempt and overseeing the defeat of the Islamic Courts Union in 2007. He resigned later that year due to differences with President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed.
