
Alfredo Duhalde Vasquez (30 June 1898-10 April 1985) was President of Chile from 27 June to 3 August 1946 (succeeding Juan Antonio Rios and preceding Vicente Merino) and from 13 August to 17 October 1946 (succeeding Merino and preceding Juan Antonio Iribarren). He was a member of the Radical Party of Chile.
Biography[]
Alfredo Duhalde Vasquez was born in Rio Bueno, Chile on 30 June 1898, and he served as a cavalryman before founding the Agricultural Bank and joining the Radical Party of Chile. He served as Defense Minister from 1939 to 1940 and from 1942 to 1944, and he became acting President in 1946 following Juan Antonio Rios' sickness; he resigned in order to run for President, which he achieved on 13 August. However, he ultimately decided to resign in favor of Juan Antonio Iribarren, and he retired from the Senate in 1953 and died in 1985.
