
Alfredo Baquerizo (28 September 1859-20 March 1951) was President of Ecuador from 1 August 1912 to 30 September 1912 (succeeding Francisco Andrade Marin and preceding Leonidas Plaza), from 1 September 1916 to 31 August 1920 (succeeding Plaza and preceding Jose Luis Tamayo), and from 1 October 1931 to 31 August 1932 (succeeding Luis Larrea Alba and preceding Carlos Freile Larrea).
Biography[]
Alfredo Baquerizo was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 1859, a relative of Gabriel Garcia Moreno. He practiced law before serving as Leonidas Plaza's Vice President from 1903 to 1906. He served as acting president in 1912, as President from 1916 to 1920, and as acting president from 1931 to 1932; during his time in office, he abolished the forced labor of Indian contractors. He died in 1951.
