
Alfred Morrison Lay (20 May 1836-8 December 1879) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MO 7) from 4 March to 8 December 1879, succeeding Thomas Theodore Crittenden and preceding John Finis Philips.
Biography[]
Alfred Morrison Lay was born in Lewis County, Missouri in 1836, and he was raised in Benton County. He practiced law in Jefferson City before serving as a district attorney, in the Missouri State Guard and the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War, and in the US House of Representatives in 1879, dying in office.
