Alfred Henry Littlefield (2 April 1829-21 December 1893) was the Republican Governor of Rhode Island from 25 May 1880 to 29 May 1883, succeeding Charles C. Van Zandt and preceding Augustus O. Bourn.

Biography[]

Alfred Henry Littlefield was born in Scituate, Rhode Island in 1829, and he was raised in Warwick before running a dry goods store in Central Falls and cofounding the Pawtucket Hair Cloth Company with his brother Daniel Littlefield. He was elected to the Lincoln Town Council in 1873, serving four terms; he also served in the State House from 1876 to 1877, in the State Senate from 1878 to 1879, and as Governor from 1880 to 1883. He died in Central Falls in 1893.
