Alfred Cuthbert (23 December 1785 – 9 July 1856) was a member of the US House of Representatives from Georgia's at-large district from 13 December 1813 to 9 November 1816 (succeeding William Wyatt Bibb and preceding Zadock Cook) and from 4 March 1821 to 3 March 1827 (succeeding Thomas W. Cobb and preceding John Floyd), and a US Senator (D) from 12 January 1835 to 4 March 1843 (succeeding John Forsyth and preceding Walter T. Colquitt).
Biography[]
Alfred Cuthbert was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1785, and he became a lawyer in 1805. In 1809, he became a volunteer infantry captain, and he served in the State House of Representatives from 1810 to 1813. Cuthbert went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1813 to 1816, in the State Senate from 1817 to 1819, and in the House again from 1821 to 1827. In 1835, he was appointed to fill John Forsyth's vacant US Senate seat, serving until 1843. He died in 1856.
