Alexis Thuillier

Alexis Thuillier (4 June 1778 – 29 January 1814) was a colonel of the French army during the Napoleonic Wars.

Biography[]

Alexis Thuillier was born in Niort in western France in 1778 and was forced to join the French army during the levee en masse in 1794. Thuillier was made a private in the Fusiliers of Line during the French Revolutionary Wars, fighting in the Vendee against Vendean Royalist rebels. Thuillier was stationed in the Vendee until the 1814 renewal of the conscription and was appointed as the colonel of a regiment of Line Fusiliers in the Defense of France. During the Battle of Bar-le-Duc he fought against the Allied forces at the head of his regiment, but was mortally wounded in the melee fighting.
