Alexey Fyodorovich Maslov (23 September 1953-25 December 2022) was a Russian general who served as commander-in-chief of the Russian Ground Forces from 5 November 2004 to August 2008, succeeding Nikolai Kormiltsev and preceding Vladimir Boldyrev.
Biography[]
Alexey Fyodorovich Maslov was born in Panskoye, Kursk Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1953, and he served in the Soviet Army in Czechoslovakia before taking command of the Russian Army's 15th Guards Tank Division in 1994. He held a corps command in Siberia from 2001 to 2003, and then as commander-in-chief of the Russian Ground Forces from 2004 to 2008. He stepped down in 2008 to serve as Russia's representative to NATO, and he retired in 2011 and died in 2022.
