Alexander Whittome (1604-) was an English explorer who founded Fort Edistow in South Carolina in 1647. That same year, he received instructions to expel the Spanish interlopers from the Province of Carolina, and he destroyed a rival Spanish colony at the Battle of Fortin Cusabo.
