Alexander Grigoryevich Volfovich (28 June 1967-) was Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces from 20 January 2020 to 26 January 2021 (succeeding Oleg Belokonev and preceding Viktor Gulevich) and State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus from 26 Januay 2021 (succeeding Valery Vakulchik).
Biography[]
Alexander Grigoryevich Volfovich was born in Kazan, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1967, and he was raised in a military family which raised him in the Byelorussian SSR. He joined the Soviet Army in 1984, and he rose in the ranks of the independent Belarusian military, reaching the rank of Lieutenant-General in 2012. Volfovich went on to serve as Chief of the General Staff from 2020 to 2021 and as State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus from 2021.
