
Alexander Irvin (18 January 1800-20 March 1874) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-PA 24) from 4 March 1847 to 3 March 1849, succeeding Joseph Buffington and preceding Alfred Gilmore. Born in Penns Valley, he settled in Curwensville and Clearfield before working as a merchant. He served in the state senate from 1837 to 1838, in Congress, as a US Marshal, and as a delegate to the 1872 Republican National Convention.
