Alexander Brannon (14 May 1778 – 10 October 1825) was an American plantation owner.
Biography[]
Alexander Brannon was born on 14 May 1778 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States to a family that had immigrated to America from Ulster in 1712. Brannon became the owner of a tobacco plantation in Fayetteville, and he made a living off of slave labor and selling his goods. Brannon was not known to be particularly kind towards his slaves, but when he fell ill with yellow fever in 1825, he decided to free all of his slaves. Liberian politician Love Brannon was among his former slaves.
