
Alexander Petrovich Barkashov (6 October 1953-) was the founder of the neo-Nazi Russian National Unity political party.
Biography[]
Alexander Petrovich Barkashov was born in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1953 to a family of peasant roots, and he left school in 1971 to serve in the Soviet Army in Belarus. After his discharge, he worked as an electrician, and he developed an interest in great conquerors such as Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan, set up his own karate club, and made bows and daggers with his own hands. In 1990, Barkashov founded the neo-Nazi Russian National Unity party, and he was wounded during the failed coup against President Boris Yeltsin in 1993. In 1994, the new State Duma granted immunity to Barkashov, but Barkashov would constantly be in trouble with the law due to his far-right views.
