Alex Sink

Adelaide Alexander Sink (born 5 June 1948) was Chief Financial Officer of Florida from 2 January 2007 to 4 January 2011, succeeding Tom Gallagher and preceding Jeff Atwater; in 2010, she was the unsuccessful Democratic gubernatorial nominee, losing to Republican Rick Scott.

Biography[]

Adelaide Alexander Sink was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina in 1948, the great-granddaughter of one of the famous "Siamese Twins" Chang and Eng Bunker. She was married to Bill McBride, who unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Florida in 2002. Sink worked for Bank of America before serving as Chief Financial Officer of Florida from 2007 to 2011, and, in 2010, she ran for Governor as the Democratic nominee, but she, like her husband, was defeated by the Republican challenger, Rick Scott. In 2014, she launched a failed US House of Representatives campaign, losing to Republican David Jolly.
