Alex Merced was a 2016 US Libertarian Party member who sought election to the US Senate from New York. He attempted to compete with the popular Democratic Party senator Chuck Schumer, who won the election with 70.7% of the vote to Republican Party candidate Wendy Long's 27.1%, US Green Party candidate Robin Laverne Wilson's 1.5%, and Merced's mere .7%.
