Alex Keller (born 27 February 1986) was an American CIA asset and current soldier for Farah Karim's division of the Free Syrian Army, as well as a Warcom operator during the al-Qatala invasion of Verdansk.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Alex Keller was born on 27 February 1986 in upstate New York. Not much is known of his early life, as most details are classified due to his eventual CIA employment, though he joined the US Army and eventually passed special forces tryouts to join Delta Force in the 2000s after 9/11. He was invited to the CIA in 2013, joining the Special Activities Division, in exchange for retroactively deleting his history with special forces.

CIA career[]

He assumed many nicknames and aliases over the next six years of working with SAD, though his usual alias was simply "Alex". This was done so that he could achieve sensitive objectives without anyone attempting to track him down by his real name. Keller trained and advised NATO allies in hostile territories, primarily in the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Eastern Europe, usually as guides, soldiers, and interpreters. He personally remained in contact with local militias in order to ascertain the appropriate amount of action Keller needed to do.

Keller's usual mission repertoire included counter-insurgency, counterterrorism, special recon, anti-proliferation and information warfare. As he mostly served as an advisor, his main tools were laptops, rocket-equipped combat drones, mounted machine guns, and satellite phones. However, when Alex needed to be in the field, he led small teams to infiltrate enemy lines and survive in hostile locations under extremely inhospitable conditions. He and his teams secured many victories against terrorist networks, though his accomplishments were never lauded due to his status as a black ops operative.

Barkov and al-Qatala[]

The fog of war[]

On 24 October 2019, Keller deployed with a squad of Marine Raiders under the direction of CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell to infiltrate rogue Russian general Roman Barkov's chemical factory outside Verdansk, Georgia and confirm that Barkov is producing illegal chemical, weaponry before extracting with it. Once the team confirmed that the factory was entirely composed of Russian mercenaries, Keller sent in a drone that deployed white phosphorus munitions on the factory entrance and burned the mercenaries alive.

Though they put down the surviving mercs, they were ambushed by more of Barkov's mercenaries, which resulted in a large firefight. After Keller and the Raiders breached a darkened warehouse, they killed four Spetsnaz GRU operators working for Barkov. The team then evac'd with several barrels of chemical weapons after confirming their presence, only to be ambushed by an al-Qatala team secretly led by Hadir Karim, who spared Keller after seeing that he was an American. As the rest of the team was killed, Keller reported what happened to Laswell and was soon extracted by helicopter.

Syria[]

Airbase attack[]

Two days later, Keller was sent to Aqtabi, Syria, which was under the control of Barkov's rogue Russian military division. There, he met with Free Syrian Army commander Farah Karim with a message from British SAS Captain John Price. Farah and Hadir then inform Keller about their plan to destroy the nearby Russian air base in Al-Raab and how they must distract Barkov's men by destroying landed helicopters. Keller and Farah infiltrated the town, covertly killing several Russians and planting the bombs before evacuating in the commotion to prepare for the air base raid.

About three hours later, Keller and the FSA attacked the Russian air base with the help of several dozen suicide RC planes. They quickly secured the first armory, resupplying on supplies and ammunition, before attacking the second and last armory in the main hangar and being surrounded by dozens of Barkov's men and armored vehicles. Keller called in an unmarked AH-64 Apache with the call-sign of Viper 1-1, destroying the forces around the hangar.

Operation Hunting Party[]

After Price and Bravo Team, including Sergeant Kyle Garrick, cleared out a London al-Qatala cell and received information on Omar Sulaman's location at an Aleppo hospital, they informed Laswell who in turn informed Keller, Farah, and a US special forces unit known as the Demon Dogs led by Sergeant Marcus Griggs. Farah and the FSA were not cleared to participate in Operation Hunting Party on 28 October in the morning, leaving the job to Keller and Griggs.

Though encountering heavy resistance immediately outside the hospital, Keller and the Demon Dogs pushed through to the lobby and ascended multiple floors, taking out dozens of AQ terrorists along the way, including an MG nest and a hidden enemy among many wounded civilians. Though a recon force of Demon Dogs were captured earlier and were soon to be executed, Keller successfully sneaked behind Sulaman and tackled him to the ground; the room was immediately breached and cleared of all enemies. After securing Sulaman, he was transported to the US Embassy in Damascus.

Embassy massacre[]

Later that night, Jamal Rahar rallied hundreds of AQ to protest outside the US Embassy, while Keller, Farah, Hadir, and several US Marines guarded the Wolf. As an SAS extraction helicopter containing Price and Garrick flew in, the AQ broke in and murdered everyone who was within the outside grounds of the Embassy. They eventually breached the building itself with a truck, with dozens of AQ killing and torturing everyone who was caught by them. Keller and the Karims escorted the Wolf to the security room, rendezvousing with Price and Garrick. Garrick managed to lead Ambassador James Harris' aide Stacy Davidson to the security room with the keycard to exit through the garage.

As they made their way to Harris' compound, any and all staff who were not with Keller's group were tortured and killed by the AQ terrorists. After Sulaman was placed in a secure vault, the compound was breached with mortars and Sulaman was extracted after the Marine escort was killed.
