Alevas (461 BC-) was a Spartan admiral during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography[]
Alevas was born in Sparta in 461 BC to an aristocratic Greek family loyal to the Eurypontid dynasty. In 431 BC, advised by the ephors' greatest navarchoi, King Pleistoanax decided to raise a fleet to challenge Athens' domination of the sea. The "Poseidon's Chosen" fleet was raised at Pylos, and the skilled Alevas was given command of Sparta's first navy.
