
Alejandro Próspero Révérend (14 November 1796-1 December 1881) was a French surgeon and family physician to Simon Bolivar.
Biography[]
Alexander Prosper Révérend was born in Falaise, Normandy, France in 1796, and he served as a hussar in Amiens before moving to Paris in 1820. He was exiled to Gran Colombia in 1824 due to his liberal politics and came to reside in Santa Marta, where he was appointed city physician. He took care of Simon Bolivar during his last days, working without pay to care for the dying general. He served as France's vice-consul in Santa Marta from 1838 to 1845, and he was awarded a medal and a lifetime pension in 1867.
