Aldrich of Essex was a 9th-century East Saxon nobleman. He was one of the chief nobles of Ealdorman Birstan of Essex's realm, and he had a low opinion of his ealdorman while respecting his wife, Lady Estrid, for managing the day-to-day affairs for her absentee husband. In 875 AD, he and his fellow nobles Eadred and Wyatt accused their ealdorman of being "useless" after an unproductive council meeting in Colchester, where the ealdorman relied entirely on his Norse advisor Eivor to help him answer their protests.
