Aldrich Savage (born in 1869) was a British archaeologist.
Biography[]
Aldrich Savage was born in England in 1869. He was a prominent archaeologist. Around October 1937, Professor Aldrich Savage headed an excavation at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City when his work was suddenly halted by Father Cesare Ventura and the dig was overtaken by Blackshirts. The Fascists then detained Savage's young protege Sidney when the boy tried to recover a Stone Fragment from the tomb of Saint Peter found on the expedition. Savage was at a loss what to do when he was approached by a helpful priest who offered his assistance. Unable to place where he knew the father's face from, Savage hadn't recognized that it was a disguised Indiana Jones, a fellow archaeologist, who had infiltrated the Holy See to reclaim a lost Cat Mummy. Jones found Sidney and returned the Stone Fragment to Savage, impressing him with his 'guess' over what the artifact was. Jones and Savage went their separate ways and the professor was invited to a dig in Giza by Emmerich Voss unaware that the Nazi's machinations had a hand in shutting down the Vatican excavation. In Egypt, Savage and Sidney worked on Voss' expedition until the professor complained about the dig's destructive methods and was dumped in the desert by the Wehrmacht. Sidney was once again imprisoned. Savage made it back to civilization and was found wandering the Giza streets by "Father Gallagher" who learned of Sidney's situation and carried out another rescue. When Jones got back to the English duo, he encouraged Sidney's desire to be an archaeologist. The boy suggested becoming great like Indiana Jones, a prospect Savage laughed off, stating that his counterpart wasn't a "real archaeologist" whose actions were not something to aspire to.
