Alberto Enriquez Gallo

Alberto Enriquez Gallo (24 July 1894-13 July 1962) was President of Ecuador from 23 October 1937 to 10 August 1938, succeeding Federico Paez and preceding Manuel Maria Borrero.

Biography[]

Alberto Enriquez Gallo was born in Latacunga, Ecuador in 1894, and he served in the Ecuadorian Army before being appointed Federico Paez's Defense Minister. He overthrew Paez in a coup in 1937 and oversaw the promulgation of a new labor code and battled America over the poor working conditions at the South American Development Company. He died in 1962.
