Albert Rivera Diaz (born 15 November 1979) was Leader of Ciudadanos from 9 July 2006 to 11 November 2019, a member of the Catalan Parliament from 1 November 2006 to 4 August 2015, and a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 7 January 2016 to 11 November 2019.
Biography[]
Albert Rivera Diaz was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain to a working-class family, and he worked as a legal counsel for the La Caixa savings bank from 2003 to 2006, when he became President of Ciudadanos. He served in the Catalan Parliament from 2006 to 2015 and in the Chamber of Deputies from 2016 to 2019, and he opposed Catalan independence in 2015. In 2019, after his party was decimated in the November 2019 general election, Rivera resigned as party president and as a deputy.
