Albader Parad (died 21 February 2010) was a senior leader of the Filipino paramilitary Islamist group Abu Sayyaf on the island of Jolo, part of the Sulu Archipelago (part of the Philippines).
Biography[]
Albader Parad was born in the Sulu Archipelago to a Filipino Muslim family. He became a bandit, and in April 2000 he seized 21 Asian and European tourists from Sipadan Island Diving Resort in Sandakan, Sabah, in Malaysia (on the island of Borneo) and demanded ransom in exchange for their release. He was an ordinary officer of the Abu Sayyaf Islamist paramilitary group at the time, but as the years went by, he rose in rank and the United States wanted him for 1,000,000 Philippine pesos; the Filipino government wanted him for 7,000,000 Philippine pesos.
In 2010, he was responsible for the kidnappings of three foreign Red Cross workers, but later released them after a short while in captivity. Parad was hunted down to the island of Jolo soon after by the Filipino Army, and he was shot dead.
