The Alaskan Independence Party (AKIP) is a libertarian-conservative political party in the US state of Alaska which was founded in 1984 with the objective of holding an independence referendum in the state. AKIP was founded by Joe Vogler as a secessionist party, but the party changed its views in the late 1980s, and former Republican governor Wally Hickel successfully ran for Governor in 1990 as AKIP's candidate. By 2021, AKIP had 19,000 registered voters.
