Alashiya was an ancient state that existed on the island of Cyprus during the Bronze Age. Said to have been descended from Javan's son Elishah, Alashiya was a wealthy kingdom due to its export of copper, which was so plentiful that the island of Cyprus derives its name from it. During the Late Bronze Age collapse, the Sea Peoples conquered Alashiya, with the Lycians seizing villages on the island and using it as a base for attacks on the Levant and Egypt.
