
Alan Peter Cayetano (28 October 1970-) was a Filipino Nacionalista Party politician who served in the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2007 and from 2019 to 2022, in the Senate from 2007 to 2017 and from 2022, and as Speaker of the House from 2019 to 2020.
Biography[]
Alan Peter Cayetano was born in Mandaluyong, Rizal, Philippines in 1970, the son of politician Rene Cayetano and his German-American wife. His sister Pia Cayetano served as a senator, his brother Lino Cayetano served as a congressman, and his wife Lani Cayetano served as Mayor of Taguig. Cayetano became a Taguig councilor at the age of 21 in 1992, and he went on to serve as Vice Mayor of Taguig from 1995 to 1998, in the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2007, as a Senator from 2007 to 2017, in the House from 2019 to 2022, and in the Senate from 2022. During that time, Cayetano also served as Foreign Secretary from 2017 to 2018 and as Speaker of the House from 2019 to 2020, and he oversaw the denial of the franchise renewal of the country's media network ABS-CBN.
