
Alan Hull (20 February 1945 – 17 November 1995) was an English singer-songwriter and the joint lead vocalist and main songwriter of the folk rock band Lindisfarne. Born in Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne, he cofounded Lindisfarne in 1970; the band disbanded in 1973. Hull was a staunch Labour Party activist, serving as the secretary of his constituency Labour Party, playing at benefit concerts for striking or reduntant miners and shipyard workers, and performing at the 1990 Labour Party conference in Blackpool. He died from a fatal blood clot in 1995 at the age of 50.
