
Alaa Said (7 February 1940-14 October 1973) was a Captain of the Egyptian Army during the Yom Kippur War.
Biography[]
Alaa Said was born in Port Said, Egypt on 7 February 1940 to a Sunni Muslim family, and he joined the Egyptian Army in 1958. Said attended military school in Cairo, and he fought in the Six-Day War of 1967. Said coordinated the defense of some hilltops during the Battle of Tal Fawaz in 1973, using a radio to order his men. However, he was killed in action by the IDF when they seized the hill.
