Al Lawson

Alfred James "Al" Lawson Jr. (born 23 September 1948) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-FL 5) from 3 January 2017 to 3 January 2023, succeeding Corrine Brown and preceding Neal Dunn.

Biography[]

Alfred James Lawson Jr. was born in Midway, Florida in 1948, and he worked as an assistant basketball coach at Florida State University after briefly playing for the Indiana Pacers and the Atlanta Hawks. He served in the State House of Representatives from 1982 to 2000, in the State Senate from 2000 to 2010, and in the US House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023.
