Albert "Al" Bertorelli (born 1894) was an Italian-American baker working in Chicago, Illinois at his own bakery in Little Italy, Chicago. He was in debt to both the Salieri crime family and the Grand Imperial Bank, owing protection money and being overdue on his loan payments since 15 July 1930, with the bank planning to foreclose on his home and business.
On 29 October 1930, Tommy Angelo, Sam Trapani and Paulie Lombardo visited his business to collect the protection money. He offered no resistance, having Angelo collect the money in a brown envelope in the back.
