The al-Ramadin raid occurred in 2020 when the Israeli Mista'arvim counter-terrorism unit conducted a raid on a building in al-Ramadin, near Hebron in the West Bank.
In the weeks following the Israeli rescue on Yaara Zarhi from the Gaza Strip, Gaza was up in arms as Hamas supporters clamored for revenge for the deaths of Jihad Hamdan, Hani al-Jabari, and Samir Abu Samhadana, among dozens of other Hamas terrorists. Bashar Hamdan came to be seen as a national hero by Hamas for his role in the kidnapping, and he decided to arrange a "knockout blow" revenge attack against the Israelis.
Hamdan, Musa al-Astal, and another Nukhba militant infiltrated Israel through Hamas' vast tunnel network, and they murdered a Jewish settler at the Gush Etzion intersection and stole his vehicle. This squad took shelter at a building in al-Ramadin in the West Bank, from which they planned to execute an attack. Meanwhile, Shin Bet caught wind of this operation, and Eli Daniel's Mista'arvim team was sent in to raid the cell's hideout.
Doron Kabilio, Steve Pinto, Nurit Shimon, and the team's new Druze sniper Majdi Kayuf moved in, with Kabilio, Pinto, and Shimon posing as onion vendors. They forced entry into the building, with Kabilio capturing Musa al-Astal as he answered the door and Majdi shooting another gunman as he confronted Nurit. Bashar managed to escape, and the captured Musa identified Bashar as the third gunman during interrogation in exchange for his lawyer agreeing to argue that, as he had not shot anyone, his sentence should be reduced. Even though his two henchmen were killed, Hamdan went through with his plan to assassinate Shin Bet captain Gabi Ayub at his physiotherapy appointment. However, Ayub's doctor, Fahed, was restrained before he could shoot, and he was taken into custody as Israeli security forces locked down Hebron to search for Bashar, who drove to Yaara Zarhi's home in Beit Zayit and took her hostage. Yamam counter-terrorism special forces besieged the home as Bashar held Yaara at gunpoint, and, while Doron called Bashar and attempted to convince him to stand down, Bashar told Doron that he would cry ever night for the rest of his life, and he executed Yaara before surrendering to the police and being taken to prison.
