Al-Mustali

al-Mustali (1050-12 December 1101) was Caliph of the Fatimid Caliphate from 1094 to 1101, succeeding al-Mustansir Billah and preceding al-Amir.

Biography[]

al-Mustali was born in 1050 to the Fatimids, a dynasty of Shi'ite Muslim Egyptians. He was the son of al-Mustansir Billah, and in 1094 he succeeded his father as caliph. During his reign, the First Crusade conquered much of the Syria-Palestine region from the Muslims, and the Kingdom of Jerusalem was formed, pushing south into his lands after seizing Jerusalem. He died in 1101, and he was succeeded by al-Amir.
