al-Mourabitoun was an African militant jihadist organization that existed from August 2013 to 2 March 2017. The group was founded by Mokhtar Belmokhtar, and it was composed mostly of Tuaregs and Arabs from northern Mali, as well as Algerians, Tunisians, and other nationalities. It was named for the Moorish Almoravids. The group carried out numerous terrorist attacks in North Africa and West Africa, and it sought to implement sharia law in Mali, Algeria, Libya, and Niger. On 2 March 2017, it merged into Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin.
