Al-Mansur Nasir al-Din Muhammad

al-Mansur Nasir al-Din Muhammad (1189-1216) was Sultan of the Ayyubid Sultanate from 29 November 1198 to February 1200, succeeding al-Aziz and preceding al-Adil.

Biography[]

al-Mansur Nasir al-Din Muhammad was born in 1189, the son of al-Aziz and the grandson of Saladin. He succeeded his father at the age of nine, and the mamluks of the Ayyubid Sultanate clashed over who should serve as regent, with Saladin's brother al-Adil and his son al-Afdal competing for power. In 1200, al-Adil entered Cairo and deposed al-Mansur, and he was exiled to Aleppo, where he died in 1216.
