Biography[]
Akimori Kamachi was born in 1520 to the Kamachi samurai clan of northern Kyushu. He became a trusted retainer of Sorin Otomo and became known as one of the "Great Pillars" of the Otomo clan for serving in all their major campaigns. In 1578, when Sorin Otomo attacked the Shimazu clan at Takajo castle, Iehisa Shimazu and Arinobu Yamada led a Shimazu army to counterattack against the Otomo army, resulting in the disastrous Battle of Mimigawa. Kamachi was among those slain in battle with the Shimazu.
